Melanin appreciation social media campaigns
like #MelaninMonday,#BlackOutDay and #FlexinMyComplexion have deeply resonated with black women and girls pushing against the twisted status quo that says light skin is always more beautiful. But the pushing extends past the black community as the need to celebrate and accept darker skin tones reigns prevalent just about everywhere.

Three University Of Texas students Sri Lankan Yogarajah sisters, Mirusha and Yanusha and Pax Jones who is African-American are working to continue dismissing colorism wherever it may be continuing to rule. 
Jones photographed the sisters for a photo series focused on brown skin and as the three talked, the #unfairandlovely tag was born.
