WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A MAN: OBAMA'S TEARS VERSUS TRUMP'S TOXIC MASCULINITY

Feeling Rebloggy
Last week, there was a moment that embodied for me an important (but often overlooked) part of our President's legacy. In the midst of delivering his farewell address, President Obama paused to thank his wife, Michelle, for her kind and courageous leadership during his presidency.

“Michelle LaVaughn Robinson, girl of the south side, for the past twenty-five years you have not only been my wife and mother of my children, you have been my best friend,” he began, tears glistening in his eyes. “You took on a role you didn’t ask for," he continued, "and you made it your own with grace and with grit and with style.”
Obama wept, and he wasn’t alone. I watched with tears streaming down my face — and it was in that moment that I realized just how much it has meant to me, as a man, to watch my president cry.
Meaningful as it was, this was far from the first time that Obama has wept during a public address.

IT'S TIME FOR THE DEMOCRATS TO ACT LIKE THEY ARE IN A STREET FIGHT

...CAUSE THEY'RE IN ONE ALREADY. THE CHOICE NOW IS TO FIGHT BACK OR STAND THERE AND GET BEAT UP.
But democrats don't know how battle like they are in a street fight. The republicans do. They've been doing it for a few decades now. The culmination is alt-Right or "alt-Reich" as some are now calling it.
Did you know that the RepubliKKKlansmen stopped seating President Obama's federal judges in early 2015? Maybe a year before they refused to staff the Supreme Court with Merrick in early 2016? Check the link below.
Republicans have been refusing to seat judges nominated by President Obama.
We the people haven't done a thing to make sure nobody should be able to do this again.
Dozens of federal judge jobs are just sitting empty because the republicans just stopped doing the basics like staff federal judge positions with the selections chosen by this first black president.
At this link is a  List of Judges Appointed and List of Judges Republicans refused to even consider FOR TWO YEARS.

  • The republicans have been holding up some of nominations for the U.S.Court Of Appeals since January 2016 in addition to refusing to interview President Obama's Supreme Court nominee, Merrick. But republicans have also been holding up nominations for the U.S District Court since THE BEGINNING OF 2015.
The lack of cooperation is at historic levels. Still, some say Obama lost battles, but won most of the judicial-nominee war.

"Obama has already appointed 329 judges to lifetime jobs, more than one third of the judiciary, and they’re already moving American jurisprudence in Obama’s direction...
Ultimately, most of those battles over judges have really been about Obama, a nasty front in the larger partisan war that has raged throughout his presidency.
And as with most of the foreign and domestic policy battles of the Obama era, the result, after a lot of bellicose rhetoric and political brinksmanship, has been a lot of change. Obama has already appointed 329 judges to lifetime jobs, more than one third of the judiciary, and they’re already moving American jurisprudence in Obama’s direction.
He got two left-leaning women onto the Court: Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic justice, and Elena Kagan, his former solicitor general. He also flipped the partisan balance of the nation’s 13 courts of appeals; when he took office, only one had a majority of Democratic appointees, and now nine do. Just last week, two Obama appointees to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals struck down some of North Carolina’s strict new election law, calling it a discriminatory effort to stop blacks from voting."

For me, it's time to filibuster the republikkklansmen into submission, filibuster the cows come home. Once the Orange Dragon is in place, it becomes time to hold the line until the whole thing breaks. If white racism is a reason to stop seating judges then anti-racist push back is a good enough reason too.

Now, Kasich in Ohio has signed a clearly unconstitutional bill to ban abortion completely for 20 weeks. He's probably thinking the courts are about to go his alt-Right way anyway, yes? More than this 20 week ban making any real impact, I think Kasich is trying to announce to alt-Right he's their heir apparent to the brainless one. Like I said before, the white supremacists have had a road map handed to them by Trump. They know exactly how far they can go with overt and dog whistle racism. And they also know that most of the left will relabel those who voted for a patriarchal white supremacist as misguided "white working class" when most everybody who is not white knows the "working class" had jack to do with how 57% of white people voted in 2016. It's way beyond gloves off time. But I don't think the Democrats know how to brawl. Headline

110 COLLEGE PRESIDENTS TO TRUMP: STOP THE VIOLENCE BEING COMMITTED IN YOUR NAME

Feeling Rebloggy

One hundred and ten college and university presidents have issued a joint letter to [the] President-elect  .... urging him to forcefully “condemn and work to prevent the harassment, hate and acts of violence that are being perpetrated across our nation, sometimes in your name, which is now synonymous with our nation’s highest office.”

Mariko Silver

This action is needed, the presidents write, because of the incidents taking place nationwide, including many on college campuses. “In our schools, on job sites and college campuses, on public streets and in coffee shops, members of our communities, our children, our families, our neighbors, our students and our employees are facing very real threats, and are frightened.”

WHITES GONNA WHITE SO WHAT HAPPENED TO MALE PART OF THE POC VOTE?

Yes. The majority of white women voted Trump at a rate of 52% But one-quarter of that same amount, at 13%,  represents the black men that voted for Trump.  If a scant six more percent of Latino men had voted for Trump, they would have voted for Trump at a rate THREE TIMES that of Black men.

Those are people of color problems. Huge ones.

This ain't about Becky.

Forget Becky.

* * * * *

PART TWO OF
WHITES GONNA WHITE
SO WHAT HAPPEND TO THE POC VOTE?

Link to Part 1
http://thankherforsurviving.blogspot.com/2016/11/whites-gonna-white-so-what-hell.html

In modern times, white men always vote conservative, upwards of 60% White men are at the top of the social heap. They are “conservative” in order to “conserve” their ill-gotten gains by keeping competition for resources low. That’s not surprising.

White women? Those who are married to white men are going to vote the way their husbands vote – so much for white feminism.

Black women? We know we’re going to have to protect ourselves. So that’s how we vote. Always. Black women put their personal feelings about Hillary to one side and voted for her to block Trump. But we, as black women, too have a problem with internalized-sexism.

I’d be willing to bet a bunch of black women didn’t vote at all listening to black men pop  off about their hurt feelings over Hillary’s  “super predator” comment
--as if Hillary every 90% of  white people in D.C. weren’t capable of saying and believing the very same thing in the 1990s,
--as if Donald Trump did straight out tell us he was going to be worse in 2016 (and since he'll be picking supreme court justices he'll have the ability to make sure the types of petty crime that more common to black and brown, he'll have all the power he needs to decimate the poorer among us)
Those of us who didn't vote probably matter more than the 13% of black men that voted for the white Dragon who means to devour and spit out anything not white and white-male-attached (white male attached = white wives who are good girls that behave themselves a lot better than Dumpster's Melania.)

LOOKING BACK AT A UNITED POC VOTE IN 2012

There have been a bunch of articles about how black and brown people were thwarted from voting. Some people said they had transportation problems, lack of polling places where they live, long lines, and voter ID disenfranchisement etc. And that's all true.

But most of that was also true in 2008 and 2012 too for most states.  Black men, Latino men, Asian men, got out there and stood in the snow for hours waiting on long lines along side black, latinx, and asian women in Ohio to protect President Obama.
POC men simply didn't do it this time and probably some POC women too.
A size-able portion of patriarchal soaked people of color did not do the same thing to protect us from Donald Trump.

Hillary's a liar and has said things out of the white racism handbook. Yeah. Whites are gonna white. But all white racism IS NOT the same.

Reagan was deadly to people of color in a very direct and immediate way-- the increased white mob violence and also the tripling the homeless population. Reagan practically attacked the poor under one guise or another constantly.

Mean Tangerine (MT) is an even worse dragon.

The labels “Liar,” and “Racist,” apply to Donald Trump (a.k.a MT) in much more threatening ways than they ever did to Hillary Clinton.

So I ask you again:

What happened to the people of color vote?

And how much did it have to do with Hillary Clinton being a woman instead of a man?

http://www.latinodecisions.com/blog/2014/02/19/the-latino-gender-gap-in-u-s-politics/

I’ve been watching this documentary on Netflix, in its entirety first then sections of it again and again. It’s called “The Mask You Live In” I love this documentary on American Masculinity, a story told mostly by men. I think it’s well done. I could not put my finger on what is missing from it for a good long while. But I figured it out a few days before the election.

Successful white men are missing from the documentary.
I originally dove into the documentary "The Mask You Live In" looking for a cure for black and brown communities as patriarchy is a huge, soul killing problem in communities of color. So it took me a long time to realize white men weren't there because I didn't care about them, per se.  However nobody but nobody needs to be in a documentary like this more than white men.
White men needed to be visible in that documentary as students that need to learn healthier masculinity. Little white boys were in the documentary. Barely graduated college white boys were in the documentary. But no successful white men with a house, a mortgage, a wife and 2.5 kids. What's worse is that none of the male learners in the video, none of the men failing at masculinity by subscribing to toxic masculinity in the video look like Donald Trump, his sons, middle class white men with 2.5 kids and a mortgage, or Joe Six Pack.
And that's important, because who is "winning" at being a man in America, which synonymous with winning at Toxic Masculinity (TM), is modeled by 30 to 45 year old white men in this country who eventually start failing at TM by being old -- unless they have tons of money.
Professional Sports, movies, television, and magazine ads all make sure toxic masculinity is idealized and flowing through men's brains all day, every day. And those images feature white men to the tune of 90% or more.
The documentary also didn't show black, latino, and asian men weren’t as successful looking failures.  To me that's critical for young POC boys to see because POC men that suffer most from thinking that they aren't men  UNLESS  they present in toxic masculinity form. That's why poor POC men will do almost anything, even illegal things, to become the breadwinner in the household. It would have been awesome if the documentary had shown how some POC boys becoming men look to white men for role models for success, white men like Trump

FAMOUS BLACK REPUBLICANS
Excuse my stereotyping, if that's what it is
But it's no accident that musclebound meatheads make up a good portion of the
famous, rich POC men that can't see the forest for the Toxic Masculinity Trees

Now we probably know what Toxic Masculinity looks like when it votes, right?
I don’t think we have to look any further for evidence than the gap between how women of color and men of color voted. Some portion of the men of color, 13% to 33%, that voted for Donald Trump has to be suffering from Toxic Masculinity. Yes, some are just greedy voting for reasons having to do with grabbing more money for self. But some of it is Toxic Masculinity.

Black men actually voted for Trump at 3x the rate of black women. Something is wrong with that 13% And I think Toxic Masculinity is the disease they have.

Whatever IT is, you understand we have to close that gap right? You understand we have to close that male female gap everywhere blacks and browns live because here is one more ugly truth for you:

A lot of non-feminist women follow men. And most women are still strongly anti-feminist.
Therefore, ugly as it sounds, getting more POC men to vote for their own self-interest is going to bring EVEN MORE women to vote. They'll follow their husbands and boyfriends and vote to protect themselves. What's more, non-voting POC men will also convince more non-feminist POC women to get out and vote.

To recap, it wasn't just that Hillary

wasn't seen as a leader
because she's a woman
that frustrated our attempts at a Trump-block.

Some people of color, especially men, are flat out attracted to Donald Trump and the republican party because white men exemplify "the successful man" in toxic masculinity culture.

Black and brown men desperately want their masculinity to be seen.

Most black and brown feminists know black and brown men suffer from Toxic Masculinity culture just like white men do. I mean we've seen their responses to Cosby and Parker. But I just didn't think the TM was stronger than self preservation against a racist who openly declared war on anybody not white and not male.

Some male POC writers are actually bragging that different POC groups went for Trump 2 to 1 (66%)  I guess they're trying to be self-protective, crying about "white people..."  "white people...." "white people..." -- when we all knew whites gonna white.

So I think blaming white people is a bunch of crap at this point.

Yeah, I'm angry as hell at them too. But I know who they are.  I knew before the election that we had to jump two-thirds of white people with one-third of white people at our backs.

We got that one-third of white people and then some.

We have to fix whatever broke the people of color vote. And if 13 to 33% of men voted for Trump, that's gotta be job one.

Welcome to the jungle.

A stronger POC voting block along with a black and brown led intersectional feminism is probably the way out of  the white male dominated patriarchal section of jungle that dominates America.

WHITES GONNA WHITE SO WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE PEOPLE OF COLOR VOTE?

I always knew that people of color were going to have to out-vote the majority of white people, just like they did in 2008 and 2012.  That expectation was not new to me and shouldn’t have been new to anybody else who is black or brown.
So what's with all the Becky did it again crap? That's a deflection and nothing more.

The white folk demographic is dwindling  as compared to the rest of us every year. Now in 2016, that's something for white people to actually be afraid of  --because they know how they've treated the rest of us when they were 80% of the country and had 99.9% of the power.

In essence they are afraid of their own behavior. But in the 1980s white fears were not justified. But that fear was deadly to people of color (POCs) just the same.

In the 1980s white folks still had nearly all the power but Ronald Reagan stirred up enough fear of the future where whites didn't have THE ONLY SAY in how things went. Those in the North and West got bolder with the overt white racism again (as compared to the 1970s). President Reagan got on television talking about welfare queens,  "young bucks" scamming welfare checks, and crack addicts as if there weren't more white people on welfare and powder cocaine.

Reagan got white folks nasty and scared enough for a fair percentage to feel relatively safe muttering ethnoracist slurs out loud again and while a majority of the rest of whiteness defended their right to do so....or get right up to the edge with dog whistle racism.

When people of color called white people on their ethnoracist crap, those Reagan lovers eventually came up with “political correctness.” Whenever called on racist crap that flowed from their hearts up and out of their mouths they said,

“Why do we have to be so politically correct?”

Bragging about how "I'm not politically correct" was the one and only part of Donald Trump's racism that came out in the form of dog whistle. Political Correctness Disdain was THE way to call the balance of close to two-thirds of white people to his side when the bullhorn racism white racism didn't work.

Donald took a page out of Ronald's book. And there were consequences when Ronald used a dog whistle. White mob violence was one of them.

Using dog whistle racism in the 1980s,  Ronald Reagan and those white republicans that followed him prodded more than half of the biggest demographic in the land (white people) to resentful hostility over

1) losing the ability to be considered for jobs first, middle and last.2) live anywhere they wanted without having to see black and brown faces,
3) facing real resistance from POCs when they sent POC children to jail while white children went to rehab.
At the time, there was exactly zero damn risk of white people losing an iota of white privilege they were so desperate to hold onto. We, people of color, simply didn't have the political power or the numbers at the time to stop them from doing a thing -- as the 1990s would soon prove.

By stirring white resentment in the ordinary white citizen who would never see themselves as racially motivated, Ronald Reagan gave the violent white fringe a higher jumping off point.

White nationalists etc had a higher jumping off point because they had a base white community that had been made a lot more comfortable with their own verbal racism than they had been prior to Ronald Reagan’s election. And when you have more white racism coming out of mouths, you get more white racist action.

This is common sense: More white racists words = more white racist action.

White Mob violence was the outcome of that comfort with more overt forms of verbal white racism in New York. And it was the outcome in other cities like Michigan and Virginia too

I know the names of  the dead chased down by white mobs in New York  --Willie Turks, Michael Griffiths, and Yusef Hawkins-- because I lived in New York. And I know Vincent Chin’s name because of a friend.

Betcha didn't hear a thing about white mob violence in 80s when they talked about lynching in school, did ya?  Didn't know there were sundown towns in the North East and all over the country, did ya?

Keeping the absence of the internet in the 1980s in mind is critical to understanding how black and brown people were endangered by trickle down racism of Ronald Reagan while it remained almost invisible to willfully ignorant whites.

That wasn't the only impact of not having internet. Blacks, for example, wouldn't hear about white racists beating black or brown and/or killing black and brown people for weeks -- not until a black magazine like Emerge published once a month.

White people would only hear about isolated racial incidents that happened near their own cities and towns.  And because the appeared to be "isolated" incidents, white people put white violence into the category of  "mentally ill" or "teenagers going a little too far" instead of into a "white mob violence" category or lynching catagory.

If we had had internet back in the 1980s and early 90s, it is unlikely Mark Wahlberg would be on a huge movie screen near you – because we’d have known when he got his first bit of fame that he went to jail for a vicious hate crime
As it turns out, it's just luck that one of the white mobs that Mark Wahlberg belonged to didn't actually kill someone while he was there (as far as we know). It's just luck the pack he ran with didn't catch the black children they were chasing year ago and more luck that the man he and his mob did catch didn't die.

So I know there are a bunch of other, lesser known, white people that did kill people of color who were never properly labeled as "lynch mob" or "executors of hate crime" – due to the absence of the internet.

But I was reading Emerge magazine regularly during and after Ronald Reagan ramped up covert and overt forms of white racism. That's how some of us knew that Donald Trump’s bullhorn racism was going to generate a much bigger crest of white fringe white violence than Ronald Reagan’s dog whistling did...

--which made Hillary Clinton's low key run-of-the-mill white racism damn near irrelevant. Donald Trump may select 2 to 3 Supreme Court justices. Stagnant with Hillary is no comparison to going back 50 years.

The rising tide of overt white racism has already begun.

The KKK has announced a December 3rd March in North Carolina. I read about a black doll lynched inside an elevator at upstate New York college. White adults and white children have started shouting racial epithets and deliberately intimidating children of color and teens at schools and universities around the nation.
And if you think those white kids aren't repeating what their white parents are saying, think again.

Since the white population actually does have something to fear this time (a shrinking white demographic) most of us knew that white people were not foing vote for Donald Trump in spite of his overt white ethnoracism.

Some of us knew that white people were going to vote for Trump because of his white racism – no matter what the majority of white people tell themselves.
“Why do we all have to be so politically correct”
should always be heard as
"ENTITLED people of color and everybody else that’s not heterosexual, white, Christian or Atheist just like me make my skin crawl.”

Again, the 63% of white men and 53% of white women do not believe that this is sentiment in regards to race is racism. They only believe that hatred, KKK style, is racism.
And while some of these white people that have black and brown people around them that they like and/or have genuine affection for, they consider them "a credit to their race" are racists too.
You can talk from now until the end of days about the subtler forms of racism to the white racist in denial about being one and they'll just sit there looking at you thinking "Those people think everything is about race." Then they'll try to find themselves a internal racism spouting token like Omorosa so she can confirm reverse racism actually exists.

The 63% of white men and 53% of white women will never understand how violent they have been and how violent they have just promised to be in the immediate future. Willfully ignorant white racists do not understand the fear underlying the protests they started seeing in the streets. They'll never understand it.

But people in other countries understand that white racism won in 2016. The longer the protests go on the more clearly that's going to be understood. Some white people will be humiliated by this (again as they were in the 1960s) and refuse to vote for racism and hate a second time.

But we should all know that white people are unlikely to excise their own white racism tumor with any long term commitment. That’s not going to happen.

White people gonna white
.

And when you add whites gonna white to the white people who live out in the sticks being afraid of their inability to get a middle class job without a college degree -- just like black and brown people have always done-- you get a landslide victory for an everybody-despising, white supremacist like Donald Trump.

Back in the day, KKK people stood outside factories that were closing and said to other whites “Those people took your livelihood.”
Today, the white nationalist minded says “those people are criminals and welfare cheats and keeping government large so their entitlements keep coming which make you, a good white man, poor. Ummm...just don't look at all the "smart" rich white men who took your manufacturing job over seas. Look at the black and brown people here."

White people gonna white.

I thought people of color and maybe 1/3 of white people inherently understood that.

That’s right. I was only counting on 1/3 of white people to vote Hillary Clinton for the block.  I was expecting a little bit of a bump from “grab em by the p*ssy” but I didn’t get it or it didn’t last.

However we did get more than a 1/3 of white people voting AGAINST Donald Trump.

So, I ask you, what the hell happened to the people of color vote?

Very Smart Brotha's Headline

ONCE AGAIN, BLACK WOMEN DID THE WORK WHITE WOMEN REFUSED TO

That headline above is a deflection of the highest order. Other men of color are posting variations on the same crap. It is so damn dishonest. We knew that vast majority of white people were the political enemy. Black women weren't waiting on white women to save us. I wasn't looking to Becky for a damn thing.

I was waiting on people of color to unite politically same as they did for President Obama in 2012.

Yet, the only people of color demographic that got completely damn serious about voting to protect us from that white racist wolf -- who was never in sheep's clothing-- was black women.

Black women voted to protect ourselves and to protect President Obama’s map toward decreasing black and brown prison population and green energy etc to the tune of 93 to 95%. So far exit polls show that black men dragged the black vote down to 88%

Since we all should have known that whites gonna white, why the hell POC male writers trying to deflect like it's an olympic event.

    Headline

    Here's What Happened
     with the Latino Vote

  • "If you are in shock over the election results, don’t blame Latinos"

The writer of this article tries to be somewhat honest in that he admits Florida could have been flipped by Latinos. But like other POC male writers he's bragging about numbers that weren't even close to high enough.
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/projects/cp/opinion/election-night-2016/heres-what-happened-with-the-latino-vote

Look at this chart again.

Put another way ONE-FOURTH of black men (13%) voted for Trump just like white women did.

That's disappointing as hell. In fact, anything more than 6% or 7% is damn near CRIMINAL level betrayal.

But you know what’s worse?

Black men were the BEST male demographic, at 80%) to step out and try and protect us all from Donald Trump.

Again, at 93 to 95% black women were the only ones that BRRRAAANG IT in an attempt to stop Trump from getting a hold of our nation’s secrets and compromising our relationships with allies while also destroying us from within.

The Asian vote? That surprised me in positive way.
I've read that the Asian population has doubled since the 1980s. Over the years, Asians have begun to realize that the American dream is not as accessible to "everybody" as they were led to believe. That group becomes more and more progressive as time goes on.  One website I read said Asians voted for the Hillary-Block of Donald Trump to the tune of 75%.

Yeah that needs to get better and quick too. But it's not as bad as I expected.

Again, the other thing that shocked the hell out of me was the damn Latino vote.

Cubans are a special big-little problem.

Cubans identify themselves as white 85% of the time. They are only a sliver of the “Hispanic Vote” at 3.7% (percentage of Hispanics not the nation) So their voting for Trump near 70% is actually pretty good.
HOWEVER, so many Cubans being concentrated in Florida makes those White Cubans a big damn problem. Most Cubans are going to have to be out-voted every year....probably by blacks, latinos, asians, and probably some of the Jewish
Florida has too many electoral votes to ever be ignored.

Cubans aside, I do not understand how close to 1 in 3 Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, South Americans --some combination of Hispanics-- voted for Trump in various states  (If that's what happened.)
http://www.pewhispanic.org/2012/06/27/the-10-largest-hispanic-origin-groups-characteristics-rankings-top-counties/
from Pew Research
Do one-third really think that respectability politics and being “a credit to their race” is going to save them?
Ethnoracism doesn’t work that way. But respectability politicians tend to sneer at their own when the white racist comes for them.
Internal racism suffering Respectability Politicians say things like John Latinx-Lastname “wouldn’t be dead right now if he hadn’t been wearing a hoodie. He’s not dead because of white racism. Racism had nothing to do with this or the reason why the mostly white jury that set his killer free.”

The other factors in latinos voting for Trump might involve latinos and asians  being able to "pass" as white (temporarily) or get model minority credit into whiteness.

I also understand silly single issue voters who vote for "right to life" candidates who will make abortion illegal while those same candidates advocates for the death penalty for 13 year olds (-- which white conservatives actually argued for simultaneously in the 1980s and 1990s.)

Vast majority of blacks can't pass So they don't do the single issue voter thing like latinos and asians might. They don't vote abortion at the exclusion of all else. Blacks know they can die in the womb, die at the whim of a white cop, die in prison at 13 for stuff Mark Wahlberg  probably would NOT have got the death penalty for if he'd been unlucky and his victim died.

But Trump attacked various Latinx groups so viciously. I expected the “Hispanic Vote” was going to come in somewhere nearer 4 to 1 against Trump not 2 to 1.

I thought the people of color vote and especially the men of color vote was going to be just as high or higher than it was for President Obama.

But that's not what happened. Clearly.

Yes, Hillary had a lot of baggage. But none of her baggage was as big as the threats inside Donald Trump’s suitcase of horrors.

Aside from the term limits he'll never get through and a couple of other things, have you seen what he plans to do in the first 100 days?  He can’t get it done unless becomes King and gets rid of congress. But what he might get done with his signature alone should frighten us all anyway.

People of color dropped the ball. Talking about white women is a diversion we cannot afford.

Besides, it is pointless and almost humiliating to berate Becky since the majority of white women are happy Donald Trump won. And it's not just the 53% of white women dancing in the street either. And additional percentage of white women are doing a bitter two-step because their other white savior, Bernie Sanders, didn’t get to the top of the Democratic ticket anyway.
So our hollaring at the Bernie Bro Stepford Wives for failing to vote for Hillary Clinton is making THAT set of white women happy too.

FAKE MURAL FOUND ON
BERNIE BRO STEPFORD WIFE PAGE

Look at worshipful black boy in right bottom
corner.White folks get MAD when you don't
vote for their white savior daddy figure.
-- mad enough to vote Trump
White people gonna white.

So I’m not thinking about white women anymore.

And, I’m REALLY trying NOT to think about how the Bernie Bros didn’t suck it up and vote to protect black and brown people, Muslims, LGBTQ, trans folk, and people who’ve been in prison way too damn long.

I’m thinking about why the people of color coalition didn’t work like it did in 2012.

I’m thinking about how a people of color coalition plus a few more Jewish people could have saved Florida and North Carolina and probably Michigan too.

I'm thinking about how we could be moaning about things being stagnant instead of screaming about how POCs are being dragged backward 50 years.

I'm thinking that racism, sexism, homophobia, islamophobia etc could turn out to be small potatoes if two-thirds of our government is unable to stop that moron from turning our allies into enemies and our frenemies into wars.

I’m thinking we’ll have 8 years instead of 4 years of Trump if we don’t figure this out.

THE HEARTBREAK OF AMERICA'S CHOICE

Feeling Rebloggy

I forced myself to go to sleep around 1am. I wanted to keep hope, even for 5 more hours. I can usually find bright spots in situations. There are none for me here. I feel doomed.

How White Women Voted

I wanted to wake up this morning celebrating the first woman president. Instead, I wake up with strong confirmation that the country I pledge allegiance to doesn’t care about me, or anyone who isn’t a straight white man. And that America would do anything to protect white supremacy, including electing a man who the KKK endorsed.
I am heartbroken for where we just found ourselves. 8 years of having a Black president and the U.S. lost its complete mind and the racists got fresh air and here they are. Repping hard. I am heartbroken because I don’t know what to do next.
So I’ll just write.
And cuss a lot.
Because: F*CK EVERYTHING.....

The disappointment
The anger
The shocking stupidity
The racism
The hard-heartedness
The sexism

AWESOMELY LUVVIE SAID IT ALL HERE
If cussing doesn't bother you that much, PLEASE DO READ

DONALD TRUMP SUPPORTERS OUT IN FORCE ON ELECTION DAY

I knew there would be black-lash against President Obama.

And I knew white folks declining numbers was going to squeeze the uglier versions of their racism out into the open. But I was really hoping for a 4 year reprieve before alt-Right took over.

Oh well

For months I've been hoping the white racism vote would "only" come in at 40%  But I knew that was a pipe dream.

So, I was pretty sure white men were going come in at 66% for Trump. (And I think that's gonna be close to true.)

But I was really hoping for a 60% of white women would go for Hillary after "grab em by the p*ssy" came out, maybe a little less. (I was wrong.)

But what surprised everybody is that college-degree-having white women did not go for Hillary, not in numbers as large as the pollster's thought. Not even close. And that subset of college-degree-having white feminists isn't that large a group -- not at all.

White women went for Trump, overall.

The very, very white Bernie Bros?  I'll bet a lot money that just enough of them voted for Trump.

During primary season in New York and California, Bernie won in all the same mostly white, low education, out-in-the-sticks counties that Trump did.
Being without a formal education has always meant poverty for black and brown. But that's new for white folks out in the sticks. And a chunk of the Bernie Bros (children of Reagan Democrats?) don't like that any more than the straight-no-chaser KKK white racists.

Between the white Bernie Bros and that huge slice of white women Trump had a lot of support.

Black folks probably went 90% for Anybody-Not-Trump. But a sizeable chunk of black millennials have been saying that they think that white racism is white racism and didn't bother to vote at all or skipped the part where one votes for president.

I thought for damn sure thought the "Hispanic Vote" except for Cubans was going to break 90% for Anybody-Not-Trump. (I was wrong here too)

All these things together are what gave us a really good picture of what America's racial climate is really like.

But what's not as clear, for a lot of people, is just how much white patriarchy hates leadership in a woman -- even a white woman. I don't know if this was an overall trend, but some of the commentators on PBS said that  fewer white people voted for Hillary Clinton than Barack Obama in some counties.

White-male-led white people do not like women, not even white women. I've said that a bunch of times. I'm saying it again.

And, I'll never be able to prove it. But I'll bet a bunch of men of color would have gone to vote, rather than sit this election out,  if a white man had been running instead of a white woman too.

Patriarchy hasn't missed darker communities either.

So, I really don't think Eileen Warren, for example, would have done that much better against white-male-led hatred. Then again, being a heck of a lot closer to baggage-less than Hillary, maybe her doing just slightly better in each state might have created optimism enough to take some of edge off the fear coming out of white racists.  But I doubt it.

Oh well.
If you think this election was ugly? Wait until you see the next two.

By late afternoon on election day, Trump's strong showing had put this entire country on a different course. If it weren't for the Supreme Court picks coming up in the next 4 years, who won the presidency would barely matter.

I think alt-Right's trajectory just took a sharp turn upward.

* * * * * *

Michael Moore nailed it a long time ago. He said we were going to lose. But he doesn't think his brethern are racists. They are.

If you don't care when your candidate says X Y Z racist statements enough to make sure he DOES NOT attack people who don't look like you -- you are not distant enough from a racist to make a discernible difference.

There were other republicans that care about money and money only. That is never in short supply on the right. White people who are poor and poorly educated could have put another republican at the top of the ticket. They and middle class educated white people chose Trump BECAUSE he's a white racist, not in spite of it.  That is THE thing that left and right white pundits and reporters admit to themselves.

ELECTION 2106 THE SWING STATE POLLS TO WATCH

Repost

As we all know, it's the electoral college points/votes that count. Electoral votes are counted state by state. One candidate has to get 270 to win.
The states that might swing into the republican column or the democratic column are the ones to watch. The states in play are listed below.

If you see less than 3% difference between Trump and Clinton in any given state, there's virtually no difference due to the margin of error.

That said, let's look back:

In 2012, the battle for the swing states was over so early that I watched stopped watching the election in favor of watching the anchors on Fox News watch Romney lose.
I didn't really think they would cry at Fox News. But I hoped. And they didn't. But STILL...noses were wrinkled up, lips were curled. They wanted to cry when they saw President Obama win for the second time. I saw it.
The petty was delicious.  Absolutely delicious.  I can't believe I didn't keep the video.

Anyway.  I hope I get to see the same thing again this year because this I know:

Donald Trump may or may not be Ronald Reagan on steroids

However,
the republican nominee that stands on Donald Trump's win will inevitably be a smarter Trump and his mostly overt white racist, misogynist homophobic followers. And he'll go all out of for the 1% without even having to slow down so he can be sneaky about it.

And ArGAT's* foreign policy will make your hair fall out or the skin slough off your skull if you're already bald.

So, I hope we can nip this in the bud by stopping Trump early today.
