OBAMA APPOINTED JUDGE DENIES DOJ JEFF SESSIONS REQUEST TO DELAY CHANGES TO BALTIMORE POLICE

Feeling Rebloggy

A REPOST

"The time for negotiating the agreement is over," [Judge] Bredar wrote. "The only question now is whether the Court needs more time to consider the proposed decree. It does not."

The order is effective immediately, and Bredar gave the parties two weeks to deliver a new timeline for implementing the deal....

BLACK LIVES MATTER

The consent decree calls for significant new restrictions on officers, including limits on when and how they can engage individuals suspected of criminal activity. It orders more training for police on de-escalation tactics and interactions with youths, those with mental illness and protesters, as well as more supervision for officers.
The deal also requires the city to invest in better technology and equipment, and for the Police Department to enhance civilian oversight and transparency...

FORD FOUNDATION AND BOREALIS PHILANTHROPY SEEKS TO DONATE 100 MILLION TO BLACK LIVES MATTER

Feeling Rebloggy
from August 2016

The Black-Led Movement Fund (BLMF), led by Borealis Philanthropy, is a collaborative and pooled donor fund established by the Ford Foundation and Anonymous Donors.
In partnership with donors and activists, the BLMF aims to support philanthropic and field-building activities that strengthen the next generation of social justice leaders.  Specifically, the collaborative effort supports the infrastructure, innovation and dynamism of intersectional Black-led organizing that have become integral components of what many call the Movement for Black Lives (M4BL).

The BLMF’s strategy is supported by two other components: the first is the Blackprint Strategy, a collaborative process underway to identify movement needs and resource priorities to bring $100 million in new resources to the Movement for Black Lives. The Movement Strategy Center’s Blueprint Philanthropies Project is facilitating this effort.

The second component is the BLMF Organizational Development Initiative supported by Benedict Consulting and focused on supporting the organizational capacity building needs of a rapidly growing movement.

COLIN KAEPERNICK VICTORY: ALLIES STEP FORWARD AND MAKING THE RIGHT PEOPLE UPSET

A few days ago, in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, LGBTQ activist and soccer player Megan Rapinoe went down on one knee instead of saluting during the national anthem.

In order to stop Rapinoe from doing it again, soccer team owner Bill Lynch, had the unaware players kept in the locker rooms until after the anthem was over.

"Punctuated by lightning, rainstorms, and a stunning first goal by Crystal Dunn, Wednesday night’s match-up between the Washington Spirit and Seattle Reign at Maureen Hendricks Field had huge implications for the National Women’s Soccer League playoffs.
But after both teams were unexpectedly and purposefully kept in the locker room while the national anthem was played on the field — and after Spirit and owner Bill Lynch released a scathing statement explaining the decision was intended to prevent Reign star Megan Rapinoe from “hijacking our organization’s event” by taking a knee during the national anthem as a way to protest the state of race relations in the country — it’s clear the repercussions of the game are far more wide-reaching...."

This attempt to thwart Rapinoe backfired. And probably made helped make Colin Kaepernick's point.

FIRED BY VOTERS, PROSECUTOR ANGELA COREY LEARNS THAT BLACK LIVES MATTER!

Feeling Rebloggy
Angela Corey, a state attorney in northeast Florida who investigated the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. [Alan Dershowitz maintains that Corey overcharged Zimmerman and purposefully left out information critical to the case.]

She [also] prosecuted Marissa Alexander for firing a warning shot during a domestic dispute, lost the Republican primary on Tuesday for 4th circuit judicial state attorney.

One of the things she's most famous for is charging 12 year old Christian Hernandez as an adult for the murder of his half-brother based on a questionable confession (I'm not familiar enough with this case to say it's like the false confessions gathered for the Central Park 5. But I'm suspicious. Other's are too apparently.)

Melissa Nelson, a corporate lawyer and former prosecutor, claimed 64% of the vote over Corey's 26% in the fourth circuit, which oversees Jacksonville, Fla. Nelson will face Kenny Leigh, a write-in candidate who runs a men's only law firm, in the general election.

I knew we-the-people, we-the-voters, would get her! She is, at least, the third prosecutor Black Lives Matter can claim a victory over.

REKIA BOYD'S PROSECUTOR,  VOTED OUT

MALISSA WILLIAMS, TIMOTHY RUSSELL, AND
TAMIR RICE'S PROSECUTOR, VOTED OUT

BLM makes the cases very public and creates pressure. Then, local voters take the prosecutors out when they can.

Job well done by all.

BYE ANGELA!!!
BYE!!!

One of the next things we need to do is work on getting rid of judges who protect murdering police officers.

BLACK WOMEN VOTE CHICAGO PROSECUTOR OUT OF A JOB

BLACK WOMEN ROCKED THE VOTE IN CHICAGO

PROSECUTOR ANITA ALVAREZ TO BE GIVEN THE BOOT
Left: Rekia Boyd and Laquan McDonald
Right: The people that took down the prosecutor that failed Chicago

When a Chicago judge dismissed the charges against Police Officer Dante Servin for the death of Rekia Boyd when Servin...

- shot her over his shoulder

- killed her while off duty,
- with an unregistered weapon,
- over a noise complaint

The judge stated that the reason for the dismissal was that the prosecutor, Anita Alvarez, presented murder evidence that did NOT match her manslaughter charge.  At the time of this judicial fiasco, Chicago hadn't prosecuted a police officer in at least 17 years.

Later, Alvarez would state that she struggled with whether Servin should be charged at all

This same prosecutor, Anita Alvarez did NOT charge Officer Jason Van Dyke with murder UNTIL AFTER Cook County Judge Franklin Valderrama made the video of Laquan McDonald's murder public.

Obviously, Prosecutor Anita Alvarez's hasn't heard that Black Live Matter. And now she knows that Black Votes Matter --now that's she's been voted out of a job.
COUNT THIS AS ANOTHER BLACK LIVES MATTER VICTORY!!

SAM DuBOSE FAMILY SETTLEMENT IS MILLIONS AFTER POLICE BODY CAM MURDER

SAM DUBOSE (CENTER) AND FAMILY

Remember Sam DuBose?

Sam DuBose was killed by a college cop during a routine traffic stop just off the University of Cincinnati's campus. DuBose did not have his driver's license. He'd explained this multiple times. The officer, 25 years old at the time, shot DuBose for no apparent reason when DuBose started his car again.

Black Feminists
Patrisse Cullors, Opal Tometi, Alicia Garza

WE SHOULD CONSIDER THIS A BLACK LIVES MATTER VICTORY
BECAUSE
POLICE BODY CAMERAS ARE A RESULT OF BLACK LIVES MATTER EFFORTS.

A number of police departments had body cameras or a budget for body cameras but weren't using them until Black Lives Matter nation-wide spotlighting activities forced the issue.

Trayvon Martin died in 2012.  George Zimmerman was found to be not guilty  of Martin's murder in 2013. Outraged over the verdict, Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi gave birth to Black Lives Matter in 2013.

Many Black Lives Matter protests later, Cincinnati was testing Body Cameras on it's police officers in 2014.

Officer Ray Tensing's murder of Sam DuBose was caught on Body Camera. And Ray Tensing was charged with murder due to the body camera video. He faces 15 years to life at this time.  The murder trial is due to begin soon.

DuBose Family Settlement also includes free tuition at the school
